Mumbai, August 16 (ANI): Giving much-needed relief to investors and traders, the Bombay Stock Exchange gained 1.5 percent earlier in the day, mirroring the global market scenario, reopening today. At 9.18 in the morning, the 30-share BSE index was up 1.03 percent at 17,012.48 points, with all but two of its components rising. Despite the 150-points rise in the Indian Sensex, the general investor mood was expected to remain cautious for at least a week, eminent market analyst Sunil Shah said in Mumbai on Tuesday. However, Shah asserted that though the markets had opened on a good start, most people would first wait and observe the unfurling situation in the European markets before investing. The 50-share NSE index was also up nearly 1 percent at 5,121.20 points

Mumbai, August 11 (ANI): Indian financial analysts on Thursday predicted a fragile equity market, mirroring major Asian indexes losing between 1 and 2 percent as the fallout from Wall Street's 4 percent drop overnight. Indian shares fell half a percent early on Thursday, giving up Wednesday's gains and tracking a fall in Asian peers, as investors continued to worry about Europe's financial crisis. The 50-share NSE index was down 0.51 percent at 5,134.50 points as the market opened on Thursday. On Monday, Indian shares fell by more than 3.3 percent to their lowest level in more than a year after Standard and Poor's downgraded the U.S. sovereign debt rating, triggering a flight from risky assets in regional stock markets.

Mumbai, August 08 (ANI): Reacting to Bombay Stock Exchange Sensex on Monday that tumbled over 500 points on global selloff, market analysts said Indian markets are largely affected by what is happening in the U.S. and European markets. The BSE Sensex extended its fall to 3 percent, tracking a selloff in Asian markets after Standard & Poor's downgraded the U.S. sovereign debt rating and on fears that the world's largest economy may be sliding back into recession. At 10:02 a.m., the 30-share BSE index was down 3.1 percent at 16,771.90 points, with all of its components declining.
